Basketball player, Keyontae Johnson is reportedly in a medically induced coma after collapsing during a match over the weekend.
The 21-year-old basketball player Johnson, collapsed on Saturday during a game between the Gators and Florida State and was taken off the court when he collapsed and transported with a stretcher to Tallahassee the Memorial Hospital.
Larry DeJarnett, his grandfather told USA Today that Johnson has since been taken to Gainesville to continue his treatment and was placed in a coma on Monday.
“He may have had activity in the brain, so they induced the coma,” DeJarnett said. “They put him on medication to keep him sedated.”
Johnson, was voted the SEC’s preseason player of the year, and initially was described as being in critical but stable condition when he was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Finally, it was gathered that, It’s unclear what caused Johnson’s collapse during the game with a diagnosis yet to be provided.
