A man known as Jude Oguzie was allegedly shot dead by men of the Imo state police command during a stop and search along Owerri Orlu road on Saturday, December 5.
The deceased who is an indigene of Amucha town in Njaba nearby government zone was headed to a wedding service when he met with the officials who mounted a barrier.
Eyewitnesses states that, the police officers supposedly shot Oguzie dead for declining to stop. His body was stored at the Federal Medical Center in Owerri.
Responding to the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede, asked why the officials would not hold fast to the standards managing the utilization of guns. He, along these lines, requested an examination concerning the issue, with the end goal of unwinding the reason for the occurrence.
Akinmoyede in a proclamation said the officials included have been recognized, captured, and are by and by in authority.
